SOFTWARE “MARs”
MARs
The software, called MARS is the one, which is used for numerical analysis related to particle system and multi-phase flow in earth science and earth engineering fields. Based on the Discrete Element Method, several coupling schemes are implemented on it. Also parallel algorithms are installed. The code of the Discrete Element Method is based on technologies at post-doctoral study in Minnesota University, USA and the later in the ITASCA Consulting Group Inc., during 1998-2005. Also, new schemes and algorithms are added using the state of art technology. The software is developed and improved by requests from clients, verified by practical problems from consulting services.
Main specifications
Discrete Element Method: explicit scheme using soft contact approach with rigid spherical particles and wall elements. Contact model (linear, Herz-Mindlin, Multi-Element Visco-Elastic …) Bonding between particles or particle-wall Periodic boundary
Coupling scheme
Fixed coarse grid thermal fluid coupling scheme Microscopic fluid coupling scheme Lattice Boltzmann Method using Immersed Boundary Scheme
Application Examples
The followings are examples applications using models developed from the Discrete Element Method (DEM) or the coupling method with the Thermal fluid flow analysis, also parallel algorithms using GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)....
